Principal’s Message

Hello Tiger Families,

I want to take an opportunity to thank you for the honor and privilege to serve as principal of Pleasant Lea Middle School.  I am very passionate about our school, and I sincerely enjoy serving you, our students, parents, teachers, custodians, counselors, secretaries, specialists, nutrition staff, paras, medical staff, campus supervisors, SRO, and all other support staff.

One of my most treasured activities as an administrator is meeting with students in a variety of small and large groups throughout the school year. This time provides me an opportunity to connect with students and gain insight, from their perspective, about how we are doing as a school. I value their thoughts and opinions because it is important that their educational experience at Pleasant Lea Middle School be the best. It is truly a privilege to be a part of their educational development and watch them mature during their two years in our building.

PLMS is a very special community where our goal is for parents and teachers to share the common mission of preparing all students for success. I would like to highlight our student and staff goals for the 2019-2020 school year. The faculty will focus our efforts on the following three goals for students:

  •  All students will meet or demonstrate growth towards rigorous curricular goals, as measured by assessments within R-7 and provided by the state.
  •  We will create an environment that will foster the mental, social, and emotional well-being of our students.
  • Staff and students will have an increased sense of connection and community.

PLMS is the community’s school, and we recognize our responsibility to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students. We value and celebrate diversity, as well as the unique talents of each and every student. A strong relationship between the school, the student, and the home will maximize the educational experience for each Tiger!

Yours in the work,

David Sharp, Ed.D
