Departmental goal(s)
1. To teach each student the importance of being physically fit which will enable him or her to maintain the highest level of mental, social, and emotional fitness.
2. To provide students with the knowledge to remain physically fit throughout their lives.
Department philosophy
As physical educators, we believe that it is our duty to instill in our students the importance of physical education and living a healthy lifestyle. Establishing a healthy level of fitness allows students to flourish socially, mentally, and emotionally. The students will reach this level of fitness by participating in activities designed to improve cardiovascular wellness, strength, and flexibility, as well as others. We also believe that physical education can not stop at the end of a class period. The students will be taught methods which they can take outside of the classroom and use to develop a healthy lifestyle for their future.
As students participate in a variety of team-oriented activities, which teach the importance of social skills, teamwork will show itself as being of the utmost importance. Students will also understand the importance of working together as a “team”, in order to achieve one common goal.
