Pleasant Lea Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences
October 16th & 17th, 2019
ALL PARENTS INVITED TO ATTEND ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17!
Please see all information below–the two conference days are very different from one another.
Wednesday, October 16 – Wednesday conferences are arranged only by teachers directly contacting parents of teacher-identified students. Teachers will reach out in advance to schedule meetings with parents of teacher-identified struggling students for more of a “traditional” team conference slot. Again, there is no parent-initiated sign-up process required.
Thursday, October 17 – ALL PARENTS INVITED TO OPEN CONFERENCES! (see schedule below) “Open Conferences” means that ALL parents are welcome to attend conferences at your convenience on a walk-in basis without having to schedule an appointment ahead of time. No need to sign up, no need to register, no Pick-A-Time, and no need to call for an appointment. Please take note of teacher lunch and dinner breaks as noted below; the building will be closed promptly during these timeframes.
Schedule for Thursday, October 17: (“Open Conferences” ONLY on this day): 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.—OPEN FOR WALK-IN CONFERENCES; no appointment required; attend at your leisure; receive your child’s grade card and use this grade card to identify which teachers you will visit.
11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.—CLOSED FOR LUNCH; NO CONFERENCES during this timeframe; the school will be closed for teachers to take a lunch break. Please plan accordingly and arrive early enough to finish by 11:00 if you come around this timeframe.
12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.—OPEN FOR WALK-IN CONFERENCES; no appointment required; attend at your leisure; receive your child’s grade card and use this grade card to identify which teachers you will visit.
4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.—CLOSED FOR DINNER; NO CONFERENCES during this timeframe; the school will be closed for teachers to take a dinner break. Please plan accordingly and arrive early enough to finish by 4:00 if you come around this timeframe.
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.—OPEN FOR WALK-IN CONFERENCES; no appointment required; attend at your leisure; receive your child’s grade card and use this grade card to identify which teachers you will visit.
MORE INFO ABOUT “OPEN CONFERENCE” FORMAT: In an effort to invite all parents to attend parent-teacher conferences at their convenience and visit any teachers they choose, we conduct “open conferences” for one of the two conference days. As you know, the traditional pre-scheduled “slots” do not allow ALL parents the opportunity to be involved due to the limited conference time available versus a large number of students assigned to each teacher. We received extremely positive parent feedback during the past several years of the open format. Parents appreciated having the opportunity to attend conferences at their convenience with ALL parents having access to ALL teachers.
WHAT WILL PARENTS GET AT “OPEN CONFERENCES”? You will receive your child’s grade card for the first quarter when you arrive and check-in at the lobby. This means you will receive grade cards almost a week earlier than regular distribution if you attend conferences. You will use this grade card to identify the teachers with whom you wish to speak. Core academic teams (English language arts, math, social studies, science, and CWC special education teachers) will be located in the Gym, and electives will be located in the Commons. The tables will be clearly labeled so that you can locate teachers and teams.
Mission: We equip PLMS students with the tools to be successful.

We want to sincerely thank everyone that has donated to our Un–Fundraiser so far this year! When you give, our students win! What is an Un-Fundraiser? Is is a simple, open-donation format, and 100% of your donations goes directly to PLMS. No need to task our students with door to door, collecting money, or delivering goods. The Un-Fundraiser is quick and simple!
We now have the opportunity to extend our Un–Fundraiser for the remainder of the year. We hope by offering this we will be able to continue to fund student programs all year long, as well as give the opportunity for our students to participate in our fun incentives.
If you would still like to contribute, you may do so through the link below or by sending in cash or check to the front office (please make checks out to PLMS). Please note, to ensure we have ordered enough Mavericks tickets, yearbooks, etc, we must receive your appropriate level donation by the following cut off dates to ensure your child will receive that particular incentive:
- Mavericks Game and Game Truck: Must receive by October 11th
- Yearbook: Must receive by February 28th
